Silver-washed Fritillaries

Today at Knelle Woods, Beckley, a pair of these impressively large and bright orange butterflies were mating (very clumsily!) and 4 other singles were seen in other parts of the woods. This is a known locality; much more surprising was a female in our garden in Rye on 26 July. Also at Knelle today a late White Admiral was showing well.
