Beach Reserve

Another fine morning on the Beach Reserve with some avian highlights too. The low water sand and River Mouth produced most interest with 28 Knot, 20 Sanderling, 6 Bar-tailed Godwit and 65 Dunlin, the usual gathering of roosting Turnstones at the River Mouth were joined by three Kingfishers fishing in the rock pools. Flat Beach was fairly quite but there were at least 200 roosting Common Terns, 2 Greenshank and several Common Sandpipers were on view from Denny Hide.

With the tide coming in late morning Sam a few watchers noted 75 Golden plovers in to the Beach roost and a Little stint was on view for a while with 2 Knots, 2 Greenshanks and a Whimbrel among others. 2 Reeves flew east over Ternery Pool.
