Christmas on the Clifftop

A westerly gale this morning put paid to our usual Christmas  walk along the clifftop, so it was seawatching in comfort throgh the window instead.

Despite the rough conditions, the usual suspects were on offer, going west were 67 auks, 31 Red Throated Divers -many now in breeding plumage-and 77 Gannets , in 2 hours.  Also a few Fulmars, a lone Kittiwake and a Great Skua.

Yesterday , variety was provided by 3 Velvet Scoters going west-don't see those from the Clifftop very often.
