Rye Harbour

Highlight today was a group of three twite on Flat Beach Level between the red-roofed hut and the first blockhouse at about 11am. This group of birds has been present here since the 28th December and are the first sightings of this species on the reserve since 2004. The birds spent most of their time feeding just within the electric fence, though occasionally they sat on the fence wires and gave some really good views. Apart from this today saw at least three marsh harrier, kingfisher and water rail from the viewpoint at Castle Water and small numbers of common scoter, red-throated diver and a peregrine offshore.
